A simple way for residential users to lodge a BYDA enquiry

BYDA is making it easier for residential users to lodge an enquiry and access the utility plans and safety information they need before starting work on their property.

From late October 2026, residential users lodging a new BYDA enquiry will follow a three-step process to request utility information.

The new three-step process

1. Select the type of activity
Tell us what type of work you’re planning to undertake.

2. Select where and when you’re planning to do the work
Provide the location and timing of your planned activity.

3. Review and submit
Review your enquiry details and submit your request.

Once submitted, plans and utility information will be available through the “my enquiries” section of the BYDA referral service enquiry dashboard, making it easy to access the information you need for your project.

Existing enquiries will still be accessible

If you’re an existing residential user who has recently lodged a BYDA enquiry, you’ll still be able to access your enquiry details, plans and utility information.

These existing enquiries will be available through the new-look Residential Dashboard, giving you an easy way to find the plans and information associated with your previous enquiries.

Making it easier to work safely

This update is designed to simplify the BYDA enquiry process and help residential users access the utility plans and safety information needed to plan and carry out projects safely.

Whether you’re planning digging, excavation, landscaping, fencing or other work around utility infrastructure, the new workflow makes requesting the information you need simpler and more straightforward. Stay safe, dig safe with BYDA: before you break ground, lodge your free enquiry via the BYDA Portal.
