Before You Dig Australia is pleased to announce that BYDA users will notice a change to Jemena maps and information. The change, which included added functionality to Jemena’s internal services and mapping tool, came into effect on 24 November 2022. This work has improved the visual representation of gas network services on maps and will help streamline internal processes, improve efficiencies and empower informed and planned work on Jemena’s assets.

Jemena map update and legend

The additional functionality and information are now available for Jemena customers and the community via the maps and safety information provided by the Before You Dig Australia referral service. This provides greater access to gas network data for users, including improved positional service points on Jemena maps. It also increases the information accessible on pipes, such as pipe measurement and materials.

For BYDA users, this additional information will help to provide easy-to-read data to support the planning and decision-making process. Also, the increased accessibility will positively impact safer excavations and reduce the number of accidental hits on its network assets, leading to reduced emergency responses and repairs and a safer gas network for its customers and the broader community.

Jemena’s 25,000km Gas Network delivers gas to more than 1.5 million homes, businesses and industrial customers across Australia. Jemena receives over 480,000 BYDA enquiries each year for asset locations. This recent change furthers Jemena’s commitment to providing energy safely, sustainably and reliably while improving the customer experience.
