Before You Dig Australia (BYDA) is introducing an important update to our Single Sign-On (SSO) system for users of the free referral service. In April 2026, existing referral service users will be prompted to complete a simple, once-off verification process when logging in to ensure continued, uninterrupted access to our service.  

What’s changing?

 As part of the SSO update, users may be required to: 

  • Verify their phone number and/or 
  • Select their user type 

This quick process will only need to be completed once. 

Selecting your user type 

To help us tailor services and improve user experience, you’ll be asked to confirm which category best describes you: 

  • Residential – A homeowner or landowner 
  • Commercial – A tradesperson or business owner 
  • Member – An employee of a BYDA member organisation 

Selecting the correct user type ensures you continue to receive the most relevant access and support. 

Why this update is important 

These changes are being implemented to strengthen account security and streamline access across BYDA services. The update will help protect user information while ensuring reliable, uninterrupted access to the BYDA referral service and associated applications. 

What you need to do 

From April, simply follow the prompts when you log in to your BYDA account. The process takes only a few moments to complete.
